So to set the scene, The Park describes itself as a 5* hotel, so that puts it as on a par with Taj and Trident, both of which I had the good fortune to stay in as part of this trip. We decided to book The Residence, as with the other hotels we had booked Club Rooms for the additional experience. So here are my comments on what is advertised on their website compared to what we got. Express check in and check out Same check in as for the other guests, slow with no information regarding the hotel or The Residence benefits. Hardly surprising on that last point….. Complimentary access to The Residence Lounge There is no lounge, it has been converted into a conference room. Sparkling wine on arrival No - nothing. Happy hour not to be missed No lounge, no happy hour. Afternoon tea with snacks No - nothing, no lounge! Evening cocktails You guessed it, no evening cocktails. Private lounge and library A no again. Airport transfer Need to book 24 hours in advance, fair enough, but would have been nice to be told that at check in. Asking at reception about the missing facilities gave me a few different responses - The Residence only gave access to the lounge, all the other items were chargeable services; access to the lounge was free but you only got a discount on drinks in there; can’t give any discount to use at a regular bar instead as the discounts only applied to the (non-existent) lounge. It was obvious that excuses were being made up on the spot and I was getting nowhere. I’ve stayed in many Club Rooms before, and evening drinks and cocktails are always complimentary perks for spending the extra money, we paid the extra to get nothing but a room on a higher floor. The room itself was pretty much a disgrace for a 5* hotel. Exposed wiring around old wobbly plug sockets, a rain shower head that only had 8 or so water outlets working (nozzles removed to let the water flow), crumbling and patched grout throughout the bathroom, tarnished taps and plug holes, missing basin plug, leaking basin, misaligned bathroom cabinets, discoloured mirrors, flaking paint, a shower curtain, that was a roller blind, so grubby I didn’t want to touch it, the closet was so tiny we lived out of the suitcase. Things weren’t any better in the rest of the hotel, stained carpets in the corridors, grouting crumbling on the tiles around the lifts, the male toilets in reception stunk so bad I gagged when I walked in. The nicest area was the pool side bar, which also served food. Unfortunately there were private functions booked on 2 of the 3 nights we were there, so it was unavailable to us. The food in the hotel was of a high standard, and there are no complaints there. Overall this hotel is dire. It needs a complete refurbishment and in no way does it reach anywhere close to a 5*. I’m sure all the one-off excellent reviews will soon hide this post in the back pages of tripadvisor, but at least I’ve recorded my view on this hotel that misrepresents itself on so many levels.

Vaibhav at The Park Delhi Is Awesome

I have been staying at The Park since long during my business trips to Delhi, and they surprise me with the splendid experience each time. The latest I would like to mention is my experience at the Agni bar where Vaibhav went out of the way to serve me drinks as per my liking, which is the expectation one has while sitting in a bar. Thank you Vaibhav and all the best wishes to team The Park. Would definitely recommend, especially on Mondays and Saturdays
